Racine, Wisconsin – Wisconsin’s largest marina, Reefpoint Marina, earned recertification as a Wisconsin Clean Marina this fall, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship, community and eco-friendly education.

With a total of 921 boat slips, Reefpoint Marina is the most expansive marina in the state, a lively part of Racine’s lakefront. Reefpoint Marina works to be a marina that “promotes community interaction” and “uniquely blends convenience with luxury,” said marina manager Carrie Reid. Due to its location in downtown Racine, there is a wide variety of nearby dining and shopping options. In addition, the marina offers its boaters five-star amenities like a heated pool, hot tubs, restrooms and showers, firepits and an on-site bar and restaurant, Reefpoint Brew House, which features scenic views of Lake Michigan.

Reid believes Reefpoint Marina’s status as a Wisconsin Clean Marina provides many benefits, including “ensuring operations adhere to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness, not only for our personnel, but also for boaters and the broader community, while promoting education on Wisconsin Clean Marina’s best management practices among boaters to integrate into their daily marina and water activities.”

Theresa Qualls, Wisconsin Clean Marina Program coordinator, commended Reefpoint on their efforts to maintain certification, stating, “Reefpoint Marina is a beautiful marina that is extremely well-run. Working with Carrie on the recertification process, it was evident that she is very conscientious and goes the extra mile to implement practices to protect Lake Michigan water quality for their boaters.”

Reefpoint Marina is constantly improving its facilities, going above and beyond to maintain its reputation as a popular destination for a diverse array of boaters. Currently, they are introducing advanced floating docks in phases, featuring slip-side pump-out and party docks. With this project and their clean marina recertification, it’ll be no surprise if Reefpoint Marina becomes even more popular next boating season.

Marinas, related industries and services contribute more than $2.7 billion to Wisconsin’s economy. Through the Wisconsin Clean Marina Program, marinas prevent pollution and protect fish, wildlife and public health. They know that clean water is important to boaters and Wisconsin’s coastal communities.

The Wisconsin Clean Marina Program was launched in 2010, and 26 Wisconsin marinas have since taken steps to voluntarily adopt practices to become certified. The Wisconsin Clean Marina Program is administered by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Program in partnership with the Wisconsin Marine Association, Wisconsin Coastal Management Program, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Fund for Lake Michigan.
